SFeraKon is the longest-running and the biggest annual Science Fiction convention in Croatia and this part of Europe. It is organized by SFera, a Science Fiction Society from Zagreb, Croatia. The first SFeraKon was held in 1979 and in 1986 Zagreb also held the Eurocon convention. Usually more than 800 attendees and visitors from all over Croatia (and neighbouring countries) roam the halls during the convention.

We had Guests of Honour such as Frederik Pohl, Sam J. Lundval, Harry Harrison, Joe Haldeman, Martin Easterbrook, Robert Silverberg, Guy Gavriel Kay, Walter Jon Wiliams, Lois McMaster Bujold, Ken McLeod, Michael Swanwick, Bruce Sterling, Richard K. Morgan, and hope to see many, many more.

The same goes for plain mortals – if you have nothing to do at the end of April, come and meet us. If you have other engagements, cancel them and come and meet us.

SFeraKon 2010 will be held from April 23 to April 25 2010
at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb.

We’ll have 2 Guests of Honor: British science fiction author Ian McDonald
and Croatian science fiction, fantasy and steampunk author Milena Benini.

Themes of this year’s SFeraKon are steampunk and space opera.

Hi everyone (at Croatia’s largest SF Con) from the European Science Fiction Society (ESFS: home of the Eurocons which you held with Sferakon, some time ago).

Eurocon 2010 (Tricon/Polcon/Parcon) is being held over 26-30 August 2010 in the Czech/Polish border town of Cesky Tisen (Cz) / Cieszyn (Pl) and we look forward to seeing some Croatian fans there.

There is at present no bid for Eurocon 2012 (to be made at 2010). Eurocon 2011 is in Stockholm (Sw) in July 2011 probably with Swecon (Swedish Nat SF Con).

Also news : Worldcon 2014 is being bid for in 2014 for London. The formal bid is made at Worldcon 2012 (set for Chicago).

best wishes and hope your Con goes well
(my friend, fantasy author Juliet McKenna was a guest with you a few years ago and enjoyed it!)
